Eligibility
Eligibility for Student Health Center services is governed by CSU Executive Orders 943 and 1053. These policies set the parameters under which all CSU campuses provide medical and mental health services.
Registration fees for matriculated California State University (CSU) students taking state supported courses include a Student Health Services (SHS) Fee that supports the provision of basic health services (some exceptions may apply). The Cal State LA fee enables the Student Health Center to offer students a wide range of health services, many at no additional cost without compromising quality health care.
All students currently enrolled in state-funded courses are entitled to use Student Health Center services, regardless of class load. Students enrolled in state-funded courses at one CSU campus are eligible for basic health services provided by other CSU student health centers. Valid picture ID and proof of current enrollment are required before receiving services.
Students enrolled in certain University programs are also eligible for Student Health Center services. These programs communicate this eligibility status to their enrolled students.
Matriculated students taking off one semester may use Student Health Center services upon payment of the the Student Health Services Fee. Note: Students must have been enrolled in a state-funded course the immediately preceding term.
Students taking off two or more consecutive semesters are not eligible for Student Health Center services. Students who are no longer eligible for services while in the process of medical or psychological follow-up care are referred to outside providers. Please note: The SHS Fee is not an insurance payment, nor does eligibility for Student Health Center services meet the State of California or Affordable Care Act requirements for health coverage.
Beginning January 1, 2020, the State of California requires individuals and families to have qualifying health coverage. Student Health Center eligibility does not meet this requirement.
Information about this mandate may be found through the State of California Franchise Tax Board and Covered California.
Students registered only for their department or division's comprehensive examination are not eligible for Student Health Center (SHC) services. However, students taking comprehensive exams who were enrolled in state-funded classes the immediately preceding term are eligible for Student Health Center services upon payment of the Student Health Services Fee.
Please note: Individuals who are no longer eligible for SHC services are referred to outside providers if their eligibility ends while receiving medical or psychological follow-up care.

Call 911 for all emergencies.
First Aid is available to all persons on campus during clinic hours. First aid is defined as one-time treatment that typically does not require a physician, laboratory, x-ray, or pharmacy services.
Students currently enrolled in the College of Professional and Global Education's (PAGE) Semester in LA program are eligible for Student Health Center Services. Individuals no longer enrolled in the Semester in LA are not eligible for Student Health Center services; and are referred to outside providers if their eligibility ends while receiving medical or psychological follow-up care. Students enrolled in other PAGE programs are eligible for first aid services only.

Students new to the university may complete Cal State LA required immunizations (or corresponding titers) and TB screening prior to their first semester of enrollment under the following conditions:
- Services are available only during the term immediately preceding the first semester of enrollment.
- Students must pay applicable immunization and lab test fees.
- Eligibility for all other Student Health Center services begins with the first semester of enrollment.
Proof of acceptance into the University and program enrollment verification must be shown before receiving services.
Because registration fees for self-support courses (e.g., enrolled through the College of Professional and Global Education) do not include the Student Health Services Fee, students enrolled in self-support courses are not eligible for Student Health Center services. However, students currently taking self-support courses who were enrolled in state-funded classes the immediately preceding term are eligible for Student Health Center services upon payment of the Health Services Fee.
