Nadia Watson Spotlight

Nadia Watson

When she’s not in magazines and on national Applebee’s commercials, Nadia Watson is the storyteller of the CBE...

Nadia Watson joined the CBE in late 2019 as the Marketing Communications Specialist. In her role, she contributes to communications strategies, marketing, and branding designed to tell the story of the CBE from the perspective of students, faculty, and alumni.

Prior to joining the CBE, she worked as a Huffington Post contributor and a correspondent for a millennial news startup until early 2017. She explained, “I took a big risk, and quite literally a leap of faith and moved cross-country from Northern Virginia for a Public Relations Manager role with the top-rated luxury real estate company in Beverly Hills.”

Graduating Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s University in New York, Nadia earned a bachelor’s in Communications and earned her minor in International Relations when she studied abroad for six months. It was then her passion for travel was ignited. “I wanted to visit 30 countries before I turn 30 and I only have 12 more to go, but Covid sort of threw a wrench in that plan,” she added.

She traces her insatiable love for life to her big West Indian family, with whom she spends most of her time with. From dancing, laughing, and mastering the traditional, mouth-watering family recipes, she documents all of it along the way, creating beautiful photo books of family trips and milestones in her spare time. “I like to collect memories and experiences, not things,” she explained.

In fact, she still has the hard copy of her feature in the Harley Davidson magazine as a nine-year-old girl when she was fixing the air filter on her uncle’s motorcycle. When she’s not in magazines and on national Applebee’s commercials, she enjoys working out, reading, and binge-watching shows.

“I like to read books the way I watch shows, by reading a few at a time. I like to think it keeps me sharp. So I’m going back and forth between: The Push by Ashley Audrain; A Promised Land by Barack Obama; and The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin. I just finished watching Mandalorian, Lupin, and Bridgerton and now I’m on WandaVision, House of Ho, and Your Honor.”
